Beethoven's Piano Concert No. 4 in South Korea
Seong-Jin Cho reunites with conductor Tugan Sokhiev and the Vienna Philharmonic for two high-profile concerts in South Korea October 25 and 26, performing Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 58.
The performances mark an anticipated return of this artistic partnership, following their acclaimed 2024 Seoul collaboration in which Sokhiev led Cho and the orchestra in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op. 37. Critics, including the Seoul Economic Daily, celebrated the duo’s deep musical chemistry and intellectual synergy, praising Sokhiev’s refined, flexible conducting as the ideal counterpart to Cho’s meticulously structured yet deeply expressive playing.
In addition to Beethoven, Sokhiev will also lead the Vienna Philharmonic in Johannes Brahms’s Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73.
The concert opens Sunday, October 25 at the Seoul Arts Center’s Concert Hall, followed by a performance on Monday, October 26 at the Busan Concert Hall.
