Tchaikovsky UK Tour with the Philharmonia Orchestra
This October, pianist Seong-Jin Cho joins Principal Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali and the Philharmonia Orchestra for a three-city UK tour, performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, Op. 23.
The tour builds upon a dynamic artistic partnership between Cho and the Finnish maestro, who have collaborated regularly with premier international ensembles—most recently appearing together with the New York Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in early 2025 for Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 16.
The Philharmonia program opens with Alexander Borodin’s symphonic poem In the Steppes of Central Asia, followed by Cho as the soloist in Tchaikovsky’s concerto. Rouvali closes the evening leading the orchestra in Dmitri Shostakovich’s monumental Symphony No. 11 in G minor, Op. 103, “The Year 1905”.
The tour opens on October 19 at Bedford Corn Exchange, travels to Leicester’s De Montfort Hall on October 21, and concludes on October 22 at London’s Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre.
