“In-House Artist” for Lotte Concert Hall's Tenth Anniversary
Seong-Jin Cho returns to Seoul in July as the official In-House Artist for Lotte Concert Hall’s tenth anniversary, celebrating a decade since the landmark venue opened in 2016. Cho anchors the celebrations with two cornerstone programs: a chamber collaboration with key members of the Berliner Philharmoniker and cellist Kian Soltani, followed by a solo recital.
On July 14, Cho collaborates with Berliner Philharmoniker 1st Concertmaster Daishin Kashimoto, principal clarinetist Wenzel Fuchs, principal horn Stefan Dohr, and violist Kyoungmin Park, alongside Austrian-Iranian cellist Kian Soltani, for an all-Brahms chamber evening. On July 19, Cho takes the stage alone for a solo recital highlighting his celebrated touring program of works by J.S. Bach, Arnold Schoenberg, Robert Schumann, and Frédéric Chopin.
The residency honors a close decade-long relationship between the pianist and the hall. In January 2017, following his historic victory at the XVII International Chopin Piano Competition, Cho chose Lotte Concert Hall for his first official solo recital in South Korea, subsequently returning in August 2017 to headline its first anniversary gala.
Reflecting on the milestone, Cho noted: “Lotte Concert Hall is an indispensable venue when performing in Korea, and it holds many memories… It is a space where we have grown together.”
