Seong-Jin Cho reunites with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg for their season-opening concert on September 20. Under the baton of conductor Gustavo Gimeno, the programme showcases a diverse range of 20th-century compositions.

The evening will begin with Ravel’s enchanting Ma mère l’Oye, a suite of five pieces inspired by fairy tales. Cho and trumpeter Simon Van Hoecke will then take centre stage for Shostakovich’s lively Concerto for Piano, Trumpet, and String Orchestra. The concert will conclude with Prokofiev’s dramatic Symphony No. 3.

Blending colourful orchestrations, virtuosic solo work, and powerful symphonic music, the performance opens Gustavo Gimeno’s tenth and final year as Music Director, celebrating a decade of musical excellence with the orchestra.
