On July 21, Seong-Jin Cho makes a triumphant return to the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. He joins forces with the renowned Chamber Orchestra of Europe, conducted by the esteemed Yannick Nézet-Séguin. This captivating performance marks the closing concert of the La Capitale d’Été festival and promises a thrilling exploration of contrasting emotions.

Cho opens the evening with the playful brilliance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major. A dramatic shift follows with Schubert’s enigmatic “Unfinished” Symphony, a masterpiece of poignant melodies and unresolved beauty. Finally, Cho returns to the stage for a triumphant finale, performing Beethoven’s monumental “Emperor” Concerto.

This programme not only showcases the contrasting genius of Beethoven and Schubert but also celebrates Cho’s enduring collaboration with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and Maestro Nézet-Séguin. Their past collaborations include acclaimed performances of Brahms’s piano concertos at the Festspielhaus in 2022 and a highly regarded recording of Mozart’s works, released by Deutsche Grammophon in 2018.
