Seong-Jin Cho Returns for HK Phil's 50th Season Finale
Seong-Jin Cho returns to the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra on July 5 & 6 for their final concerts of the season, a momentous occasion marking the orchestra’s golden anniversary year. This eagerly anticipated performance also signifies Cho’s first collaboration with conductor Tarmo Peltokoski.
In 2019, Cho captivated audiences on the HK Phil stage, earning rave reviews for his masterful artistry. The South China Morning Post hailed his “technical proficiency and refined romanticism,” qualities that perfectly suit the chosen repertoire for this celebratory finale. Cho performs Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto, a work brimming with energy and virtuosity. The concert culminates with Mahler’s magnificent Fifth Symphony, a powerful and awe-inspiring piece. This programme promises an unforgettable conclusion to the HK Phil’s 50th season.
