Seong-Jin Cho joins the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Ryan Bancroft at Konserthuset Stockholm for two performances of Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in D minor, Op. 40, on October 8 and 10.

The program marks a welcome reunion for Cho, who made his debut with the orchestra and Bancroft at Konserthuset Stockholm in 2024 performing Saint-Saëns’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in F major, Op. 103, “Egyptian”. Cho’s command of Mendelssohn’s concertante works has drawn widespread critical praise, with The Aspen Times noting how he “handles rapid tempos and dense orchestral textures with ease, maintaining a sprightly and luminous touch even in fast-paced finales.”

Bancroft and the orchestra frame Mendelssohn’s concerto with Cassandra Miller’s La Donna and Alexander von Zemlinsky’s orchestral fantasy Die Seejungfrau (The Mermaid), after Hans Christian Andersen.

The Thursday, October 8 concert begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by a matinee performance on Saturday, October 10 at 3:00 p.m.
