Chopin 2 with London Symphony Orchestra in London and Spain
Seong-Jin Cho reunites with conductor Gianandrea Noseda on February 12 and 15 for two programs of Romantic masterworks at Barbican Hall, forming a centerpiece of Cho’s Artist Portrait series with the London Symphony Orchestra. Following the London dates, the pair and the orchestra tour the program to Spain, performing at Barcelona’s L’Auditori on February 17, the Palau de la Música in Valencia on February 20, and Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza on February 21.
The tour builds on Cho’s extensive European residency with the LSO in autumn 2025, when he alternated Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2. In an interview with Lucy Walker about his Artist Portrait, Cho reflected on their long-standing relationship: “The first time I encountered the LSO was in 2016, when I recorded my first studio album with them—Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with Gianandrea Noseda. Since then, we have performed together many times all over Europe, and I’ve played with the LSO and Sir Simon Rattle in Asia.”
The program opens with Stravinsky’s Divertimento from ‘The Fairy’s Kiss’ (rev. 1949), followed by Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21, and concludes with Alexander Borodin’s Symphony No. 2 in B minor.
